Sketch books

These sketch books were mainly compiled while George Clayton Eaton was travelling around the United Kingdom from the late 1840s-1870s. The series also includes some childhood sketch books.

Original drawings, sketches and paintings of William Bell-Armes (hereafter WBA) and some sketches/paintings by his mother Elizabeth Armes. Contains one painted portrait of WBA possibly painted by Alfred Munnings. Also includes some photographs of WBA and his mother.

Folder 1: General artwork of WBA including sketches, drawings and some paintings.

Folder 2: : General artwork of WBA including sketches, drawings and some paintings; cartoons by WBA on themes including the Temperance movement, money lending, sea bathing and class/education.

Box 2:
Folder 3: Artwork of WBA, mainly cracker designs; architectural drawings artwork of WBA, mainly Boulton and Paul.

Folder 4: WBA's paintings, mainly Norwich riverside including the Black Tower, Carrow; WBA's drawings and sketches of Norfolk including a Cattle Market (possibly Norwich), horses, boats, nature and buildings etc., mostly unidentified but includes a sketch which may be a draft of the Black Tower, Carrow, painting.
