Biographical history
Margaret Neville-Rolfe (1853-1946), daughter of Charles Fawcett Neville-Rolfe, married Charles Franklin Torrey (1858-1927) in 1882. Torrey was the son of Franklin Torrey, a celebrated sculptor from Massachusetts who settled in Cararra, Italy, where he exported marble and served as US Consul. Charles Torrey managed the London branch of the Atlantic Transport Line, served as director or manager of various shipping bodies, and had many other business interests.
Charles and Margaret Torrey had three sons: Gerald E.F. Torrey (c 1885-1949), Eustace, and Eric Torrey (1889-1949). G.E.F. married Violet Ethel Rolfe and their daughter was Susan Torrey (c 1917-2001).
Owned the Grade 'A' Dairy Farm at Little Loo, Heacham.
