History

A retired inspector from the Metropolitan Police Force (who may have previously lived near Croydon, Surrey) retired [in c 1908] to 2 Clare Cottage, Beach Road, Caistor, with his wife, Sarah and at least one of his three adult daughters. His health appeared from the diaries to be good and he lived an active life. Whilst at Caistor he became parish clerk and church cleaner, a post he held for several years from 1909. Eventually in November 1924 he and his wife moved to Weasenham All Saints, probably to be near to his married, eldest daughter, Ella and her husband, Arthur Pegg. In February 1926 Deacon died, aged 81, leaving his widow, Sarah and his son-in-law, Pegg to execute his will. He was buried at Weasenham All Saints.
