Biographical history

Born to Henry and Frances Hall in Pentney, Norfolk on 21 Jan 1861, Peter grew up to follow his father into blacksmithying work in Itteringham, where his father had moved to the Forge there near the parish church in c 1859. Despite being one of the youngest of several sons, it was Peter who succeeded his father in the blacksmithy at Itteringham by the early 1890s. He worked at The Forge there until he was well into his 80s. No member of the family took on his work after his death in January 1948. Just before he had taken over the business in the 1890s, he married local girl, Georgina/Georgiana Jeckells, then occupied as a dressmaker. She died in October 1948 in Warrington whilst staying with relatives, the Carter family. Peter was at the least, the third generation of the Hall family to be a blacksmith, his grandfather, another Henry Hall, having once been blacksmith in Corpusty.
