Manorial incidents



Scope note(s)

  • After compulsory enfranchisement of copyhold land in the 1920s, certain charges and interests in the lands still remained. They were known as manorial incidents. These could be extinguished by payment of compensation by the tenant or copyholder to the lord of the manor.
  • Used for papers relating to manorial incidents, particularly papers relating to compensation for extinguishment of manorial incidents.
