The butter accounts are believed to relate to Hill House Farm, Little Ryburgh. John Platten was the last Overseer and Churchwarden to sign the Overseers' accounts in this volume. A John Platten (possibly the same man) signs the last butter accounts in 1876. According to the 1871 census John Platten, aged 77 years, resided at Hill House Farm, Little Ryburgh, and farmed 280 acres.
Payments for butter were made by Salbery/Sealsbery/Salsbery [Salisbury], Richardson and Fakenham. 'Richardson' may be Thomas Richardson, grocer and draper and post office (listed under Great Ryburgh in Kelly's Post Office Directory of 1869). 'Fakenham' may be sales at Fakenham market.
