Cambridgeshire, Hildersham Manor

In 1546, the lord of the manor was Sir William Cavendish, one of the king's treasurers and second husband of Elizabeth, daughter-in-law to the previous lord, Sir Philp Parys, but by 1562, Fardinand (sic) Parys, Esq. was lord and remained so until his death late in 1595, when guardians for his under-age grandson, Charles Parys, took over. By 1620, however, Charles had attained his majority and had become lord of the manor. He died in 1663. His younger brother, John succeeded, but had no male heir and the manor descended to the Andrew family in 1706 via the descendants of John Paris's five sisters, thereby effectively ending the manor's long association with the Parys, or Paris family.
See also reference to the title to the manor in PTR 1/151.
