White of Salle additional estate records

  • ACC 2004/27
  • Temporary
  • 16th century-19th century

Documents relating to Edward Hase and the Jodrell family who previously owned the estate.

The records comprise deeds and maps of the Norfolk estates from the 18th century. There are also deeds relating to the Jodrell family's Derbyshire manors from the 17th century. The extensive collection of estate maps, dating from 1760, several of which were surveyed by Jeremiah Bone who worked for both Edward Hase and Richard Paul Jodrell. Bone was also a local school teacher and lived at various times in Aylsham and Bawdeswell. In 1807, Bone made a plan of Salle park for Richard Paul Jodrell. Compared with earlier maps in the collection, it shows changes in the creation of the park and estate, such as the marker tree still standing on the Salle/Reepham boundary, Reepham common and land formerly common to the north of the park.
