Of the Middleton family, lords of the manor of Middleton Hall, Mendham, Suffolk. Was Archdeacon of Canterbury for 2 years. Elected by the monks on 11 or 24 February 1278, temp. 16 March 1278. Consecrated in the King's presence by Robert, Archbishop of Canterbury, at Lambhithe on 29 May 1278. Enthroned at Norwich on Advent Sunday. Prebend of Bromesbury in St Paul's, London and official or dean at Canterbury. Well versed in civil and canon law. Consecrated the church and churchyard of St Nicholas' Church, Great Yarmouth. Died 31 August or 1 September 1288.
