Born at Ilton, Somerset. Son of William and Mary Baker. One brother. Did not marry. Educated at Crewkern School, and at Wadham College, Oxford, gaining his M.A. on 28 May 1692. Doctor of divinity 10 July 1707. Rector at St Ebbe's, Oxford, and also at Padworth, Berkshire, and Blaydon and Woodstock. Archdeacon of Oxford 17 February 1714. Promoted to the see of Bangor. Translated to Norwich. Nominated 2 November 1727, confirmed 19 December 1727. Died 4 December 1732 at Bath.
