History

Descended from Richard, son of William de Appleyard of Durham. Parents were Bartholomew and Emma Appleyard. He married Margaret, daughter of Robert Clere of Ormesby. Children - Nicholas, Elizabeth and Katherine. Lived in Norwich in building now called Bridewell Museum. Died 1419. Mayor of Norwich 1403-1405, 1411, 1412, 1418. Bailiff in 1386, 1395, 1401, burgess in Parliament at least 10 times between 1383 and 1419. Held the manor of Intwood in 1401. Lord of the manor of Bracon Ash and escheator for Norfolk in 1402. His will was proved in Norwich on 14 October 1419.
