Scope and content

In 1947 there was widespread flooding around the country, including the River Ouse. A Flood Disaster Fund was set up through conjuction of King's Lynn Town Council, Downham Market Urban District Council, Downham Market Rural District Council and Marshland Rural District Council to co-ordinate the relief efforts around Southery which was hit especially hard. Similar funds were set up by surrounding authorities. There were close links with the Fenland Relief Fund.
