Kelly's Norfolk Directory of 1900 records (under Schools in the Thorpe St Andrew entry): 'National (girls and infants), erected in 1855, and enlarged in 1874, for 160 children; average attendance 64 girls, 55 infants.\r\nBoys', endowed from the Brundall and Caxton estates and De Vere's charity, built in 1841, and enlarged in 1874, to accommodate 100 boys; additions to the school were made in 1899 at a cost of over £700; average attendnace, 66 ....'\r\nThe first entry in the Infants' School log book (C/ED 162/1 p. 1), dated 10 November 1904, reads: ' The Rev. F.R. Phelps visited school and stated that Infant Class was to form a separate department from Nov.!st.' The final entry in this log book (C/ED 162/1 p. 378), dated 31 May 1937, states: 'School closed at noon to arrangement for removal of desks and stock to the New Council School. Under re-organisation this school is now to be an all-standards school with a new log-book.\r\nThe first entry in the Mixed School log book (C/ED 162/2 p.1), dated 1 June 1937, records: 'This School was re-organised as an all standard school known as Thorpe St Andrew N.P. Mixed [number] 410.' 'N.P.' denotes Non-Provided, i.e. denominational or other charity school. The final entry in this log book (C/ED 162/2 p.52), dated 31 July 1952, states: 'This school is permanently closing to-day.
