History

Educated at Norwich School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Became scholar, Fellow, Master, and twice vice-chancellor at Cambridge. Chaplain to Archbishop Tennison. Vicar at St Martin in the Fields, Westminster, and Archdeacon and prebend at Canterbury. Nominated 19 August 1721, consecrated 8 October 1721. Transferred to Ely 24 September 1723. Continued as bishop until his death. Buried at the north side of the presbytery at Ely Cathedral.
