In December 1944, Uttal married Joyce Christie Walters/King, a British Civilian Assistant with the Red Cross, at City Hall, Norwich. For a more detailed biography of Uttal, see his entry under the 2nd Air Division Headquarters section of this catalogue.

Jordan Uttal enlisted in the US military following the attack on Pearl Harbour, December 1941, and arrived in Norfolk in May 1943. After the Second World War, Jordan returned to America with Joyce and worked in the American food industry.
