Scrapbook of Admiral Ernest Neville Rolfe.

Contains press cuttings and photographs relating to the British Sudan Campaign, 1884, including reports from Souakim [Souakin], articles on the Battles of El Teb and Tamasi [Tamaai], and about the relief of Tokar, and reports on Admiral Sir William Hewett's special mission to King John of Abyssinia, 1884 (Neville-Rolfe was one of the party). With illustration from 'The Engineer' showing damage to the starboard engine room of the SS 'City of Paris' following an accident (Margaret Torrey née Neville-Rolfe was on board; see GUN 196), 1890, and watercolours of cousin Charlie Stewart in the park at Heacham and of cousin Audrey Stewart.

Portfolio

Mainly childhood drawings of various subject matter, including animals, a group of lions from Wombwell's travelling menagerie, ships and fishing boats, churches, Bacton Abbey also known as Bromholme Priory, Costessey Hall, Cromer and Happisburgh lighthouse, many undated. Also includes a small watercolour of Norwich Castle by Mary Damant, 1811.

Letters to Mary Eaton from Frederic Eaton

The letters were written while Frederic was on board RMS Dunottar Castle, visiting Marseilles, Malta, and Greece. Includes letters written when he was staying at the Hotel Continental in Paris and also includes letters written by Frederic Eaton to his sister, Florence Eaton.

Contains papers relating to a journey aboard 'RMS Dunottar Castle', sailing from Marseilles in France, 31 March 1909. Includes two original travel wallets, one containing ticket [nos. 1-2]; a receipt from the Hotel Continental, Paris, 1909 [no. 3];and ticket listing number of trains and times from Calais to Paris Nord and return, undated [1909] [no. 4].
