Born in North Walsham. Worked as gardener for father (Robert Dye) in North Walsham, then as gardener for James Stagg in Great Yarmouth. About 20 years ago learnt to be a sawyer at yard of John Crane of Yarmouth, builder. For past 10 years worked for Messrs Howes and Hodskinson of Great Yarmouth, carpenters. Married Mary about 17 years ago in Great Yarmouth and has 7 children living with him; his eldest child Samuel is apprenticed in Yarmouth.
