History

Robert A. Jacobs served in the 93rd Bomb Group and was a member of Lester J. Litwiller's crew. From April 1944, Jacobs transferred to the 389th Bomb Group, where he was served on a lead Pathfinder crew in the 564th Bomb Squadron. On D-Day, he flew with the crew which led the 446th Bomb Group on their first strike of the Normandy coast. Jacobs met Nancy Rose Lacey, an English woman, at a tea dance in Elm Hill, Norwich, and they married on 10 May 1945.
