The ceremony, held at Wright Patterson Air Force base, Dayton, Ohio, commemorated the fortieth anniversary of a mission by the 453rd Bomb Group to Brunswick, Germany, 8 May 1944, on which they led the 8th Air Force, under the command of Andrew S. Low and were heavily attacked by German fighters.
