Scope and content
Personal papers, comprising correspondence, financial papers and legal documents, as well as one photograph of William. Many of the papers relate to William's role as a landlord of residential property, but there are also family letters, including a few to his cousin Mrs Arnold, some relating to disputes with his brothers, and departure from the family partnership. There is also a mourning card for William, newspaper clippings covering his funeral, a copy of his marriage certificate, and extracts from parish registers relating to his wife's family.
A few items are dated after William's death and relate to his widow, Emma. Also in the bundle is a seven-page manuscript list of archival items relating to William Pightling Jarrold, probably written by Peter Salt in the late twentieth century. Found amongst these items was an undated letter from Hannah Elizabeth Jarrold to an aquaintance.
