Seven building plots of the Calverley Estate were sold by William Willicombe builder and others to John Lidgett in 1855. Following Lidgett's death in 1861 the plots (nos. 57-64 and part of 69 and 70) with a capital mansion called Kingston House, later Kingswood, were purchased by John Remington Mills, who also acquired part of the furniture.
