Scope and content
Post-Reformation financial records survive in several forms. Receiver's accounts in roll form exist, 1538-1677, the earliest being accounts of individual Prebendaries rather than overall accounts. Receiver's accounts for 1538, 1622 and 1630 are bound into DCN 29/3. Treasurer's rolls survive from 1622. There are working accounts for the Receiver and Treasurer for 1619-1646 and 1661-1679 and formal Audit Books from 1660 onwards. Audit accounts survive for two years before 1660: those for 1538 are bound in the first volume of working accounts [DCN 10/2/1] and those for 1638 in the first Audit Book [DCN 11/1]. Supporting audit papers survive in small numbers from the mid-sixteenth century and for most years between 1613-1632 and from 1685 onward: they are arranged in yearly bundles. There are several series of subsidiary accounts.
