Administrative history

Roger de Monte Alto died in possession 1296-7. Robert de Mohaut is named as lord of Snettisham in the Nomina Villarum of 1316. At an inquisition taken in 1358, Queen Isabella, was found to have died in possession of the manor [IPM 10/447].\r\nIn 1704, Robert Cremer holds his first court. He is lord of four Snettisham manors: Lancaster, Rusteyns, Hacons and Dame Cecily's. From 1704, these always appear on the same rolls and the last three come to be regarded as 'members' of Snettisham Lancaster, often just known in records as Snettisham.\r\nFor details of privileges belonging to tenants of the Duchy see Aylsham Lancaster.
