Administrative history

The property of the Lestrange family of Hunstanton Hall from at least the early twelfth century. Hamo Lestraunge is one of two lords in Hunstanton named in the Nomina Villarum of 1316 (the other being William Lovel). An inquisition held in 1486 found that Henry Straunge Esq. had held the manor of the duchy of Lancaster. Roger was his son and heir [IPM H7 1/24]. Henry L' Strange Styleman Le Strange, Esq., is given as lord of the manor in White's Trade Directory (1845).\r\nHamon Le Strange, Esq., is given as lord of the manor in White's Trade Directory, 1883.
