This section contains papers relating to the Second World War service career of Floyd Mabee with the Murphy crew on board the B-24 'Shoot Luke.' They also relate generally to the 93rd Bomb Group and to the Ploesti mission, Romania, 1 August 1943. Crew no. 4 of the 328th Bomb Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group, flew the B-24 'Shoot Luke' and comprised: John H. Murphy, pilot; Frank D. Lown, co-pilot; Arch J. Rantala, navigator; Ed F. Janic, bombardier; William D. Mercer, radio operator; Paul B. Slankard, tail-gunner; Mahlon W. Cressey, right waist-gunner; Floyd H. Mabee, left waist-gunner and James D. Cowan, tunnel-gunner.
