Sub-sub-series - Letters books

Indexed at the front of each volume, alphabetically by addressee. The majority are wet copy letters books (unless otherwise stated) and concern estate maintenance and management of tenancies, payment of rent and manor court business. Each volume runs to approximately 300 or 500 folios, depending on format. Most of the letters are signed by either Robert Pratt, Charles Hornor or Francis Hornor, although the letters themselves may have been dictated to clerks. Some of the writing is difficult to read due to fading and the flaws in the copying process.
