Biographical history
Born on 21 April 1752 at Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, son of John Repton (bap. 1714, d. 1775), a collector of excise, and his wife, Martha (d. 1773), the daughter of John Fitch, of Moor Hall, Suffolk. The Reptons moved about 1762 to Norwich. In 1788, Repton became a professional landscape gardener. He died on 24 March 1818 at Hare Street, Essex.
