[IPM 1/361]\r\nThomas de Hauvile is named as lord in the Nomina Villarum of 1316.\r\nSir Charles Chad is named as lord of the manor in the Inclosure Act of 1827 [NRO, C/Sca 2/298], and in White's Trade Directory (1845).\r\nLast transaction dated: 1862; lord of the manor: Joseph Stonehewer Scott Chad; Steward: G.E. Ward Simpson [TNA, HMC 5/6].\r\nJ.S. Scott Chad, Esq., is given as lord of the manor in White's Trade Directory, 1883.
