History

Born at Guildford, Surrey, in 1511. Son of George Parkhurst of Guildford. Educated at a grammar school in Oxford, next to Magdalen College gate. Fellow of Merton College in 1529. Ordained as a priest in 1538 married Margaret, daughter of Thomas Garnish of Kenton, Suffolk. Patron, Catherine Brandon, duchess of Suffolk, 1542. Voluntary exile to Zurich, Switzerland, for religion. Nominated 27 March 1560, elected 13 April 1560, installed by John Salisbury on 27 April 1560, consecrated by Mathew, Archbishop of Canterbury 1 September 1560. Buried in the south side of Norwich Cathedral. Died 2 February 1574 or 1575.
Wrote 'Epigrams' [two books of], 'Epigrammata Seria' (translated Serious Epigrams). 'Ludicra siue Epigrammata Iuuenilia' (verse).
