History
Born at Beeston, Norfolk - inherited Taverham Hall in 1856 when his half brother Nathaniel Waldergrave died; Educated Cambridge Magdalen BA; Deacon 1835 & Priest 1836. Inherited The Old Iridge Estate from his uncle Sir Sotherton in 1854 (although his brother Henry would successfully sue for ownership. His brother Frederick and later George, owned the Iridge New Estate). Died without issue. Henry inherited his estates.
Iridge Place was made over to Delaval.G. Le'Strange Astley in 1894 (grandson of Revd. John's half-sister Charlotte, who married Lt.Col. Francis Le'Strange Astley, and George's companion) and the remainder of the estate passed, on George's death, to the Mills family through Revd. Cecil c. 1901.
John's sister, Sarah Charlotte married John Mills (son of William Mills and Elizabeth Digby). Their son Revd Cecil, inherited Taverham Hall and it later passed to his son John Digby Mills.
Earlier ancestors include Sir William Peckham, who owned Iridge, and Miles Branthwayt, father of Sarah the wife of Nathanial Micklethwait (d. 1780).
