Son of William and Avice Goldwell. Brother Nicholas Goldwell. Another brother, John Goldwell. Born at Great Chart, Kent. Educated at All Souls College in Oxford. Prebend of Isledon. Instituted archdeacon of Essex on 5 August 1461. Made his brother, Nicholas Goldwell, collector of the first fruits in his diocese. Prov. 17 July 1472, consecrated 4 October 1472, temporalities 25 February 1473. Will dated 10 June 1497. Died 15 February 1499 at Hoxne, Suffolk.
