William Byatt, hereafter WB, briefly describes his career in the oil industry and experiences of coming to work in Great Yarmouth in 1966. Alma Byatt, hereafter AB, talks about the North Sea Petroleum support club for wives of employees. WB was head of logistics (retired 1988): he describes solving problems at work and response to emergencies. AB talks about the 'Southern Sector' magazine for employees, which included a section for the wives club. WB and AB talk about their experiences of working with Americans e.g. their work ethic. WB mentions positive and negative aspects of his job. WB talks about the future of the gas industry and its decline. WB mentions survival training and typical working hours. WB and AB talk about the social aspects of working for North Sea Petroleum. AB was asked to be president of the wives club: describes her responsibilities, the club ethic, changing composition of club membership, club activities.
