Mr Bartwright talks about his fishing career: the names of the boats he sailed in, travelling to different places, mackerel catching, the herring industry, wages, his first trip and different roles he held over the years. He describes experiences fishing during the First and Second World Wars, sweeping mines, seeing planes and submarines. Mrs Bartwright talks at length about her childhood, her 15 siblings, her father's fishing career, roles in the house and her fish canning job. They discuss the houses of the rows in more detail. They both talk more about their childhoods, the poverty of the community, school days, toys, discipline and their families.
