Norfolk War Hospital

In 1915 the Norfolk County Asylum was offered to the War Office for use as a War Hospital. Patients of the Asylum were transferred to the Norwich City Asylum at Hellesdon, Melton Asylum (Suffolk) and other asylums in the region. The Medical Superintendant became Officer Commanding the Hospital until 1919 when control of the Hospital reverted to a Committee of Visitors. A full account of this period in the Hospital's history can be found in the annual report for 1920 (SAH 32) and a list of the Asylum patients transferred was published separately (SAH 326).
