Letters from Matthew, Martha and Mary Nelson of Holme next the Sea to Elizabeth Nelson

Letter from Matthew Nelson to his daughter, Elizabeth, on a visit to Mrs Sharpe, Aylsham, 5 Dec 1832, giving home news and news of neighbours, including mention of visit to King's Lynn on 27 November the day after a ball, and that someone had broken into Sir Thomas Le Strange's house and stole £800. On the back are letters from Mary Nelson and Martha Nelson to their sister, Elizabeth (both crossed) mentioning gardening and social events, including dancing at Titchwell, and the Dodman family.
Letter from Matthew Nelson to Elizabeth, on a visit to Revd S. Sneyd, Basford Hall, Leek, Staffs. suggesting she return home, mentioning Uncle John Holley, also referring to the 'sad business', that he had given Mr Groom £200 and that they were to continue with the farm, 27 August 1833. On back are letters from Martha and Mary Nelson (both crossed) giving local and home news, Mary's letter takes the form of a diary chronicling events over the previous month.

Inlcudes letters from Whincop and Lane, solicitors, of King's Lynn acting for Morewood and E. Cooper, solicitor, of East Dereham acting for Matthew Nelson who wanted to sponsor an act in parliament for inclosing all Holme next the Sea, Morewood's claims, legal opinion on various matters, printed notices and the act, a particular referring to a copy of the inclosure award, 1827 (probably PC 232/4), and the charges and expenses of obtaining and carrying the act for the inclosure of Holme next the Sea.

Facsimile of letter from Vice-Admiral Horatio, Lord Nelson, Merton, to Matthew Nelson

Thanking him for the gift of a turkey and two hares, and stating that although he knew Matthew was related to him he did not think they had ever met, but that he would be pleased to meet Matthew if he ever visited London, 7 March 1803. Facsimile is undated [? 19th century-early 20th century].
