Photographs of family portraits and family members

Multiple copies of photographs of portraits of John Jarrold II, his wife Hannah Elizabeth Jarrold, Samuel Jarrold, William Pightling Jarrold, Thomas Jarrold, and Samuel John James Jarrold. There is also a photograph of a portrait labelled as John James Jarrold, but later research has indicated that this is may be an earlier portrait of Samuel Jarrold. There are also photographs of T.H.C. Jarrold and W.T.F. Jarrold. Some photographs have reprographic tags indicating that they were to be used in one of the 1970 company histories.

Press cuttings, Walpole House photographs, early twentieth century negatives, letter

The press cuttings cover John's presentation to the Princess Margaret during her visit to Norwich in 1952, as well as his marriage to Catherine Grace Elliott in 1932. There is also a 1960 cutting from 'Electrical Review' magazine about low-cost house heating. Found in the same unlabelled envelope was a small envelope of four photographs of Walpole House, Norwich, residence of John's father T.H.C. Jarrold, probably taken in the early twentieth century, as well as a small envelope containing 15 unidentified negatives of street scenes, possibly Norwich, probably dating from the nineteenth century. There was also a letter to John - addressed to 'Jack' - on the death of his father in 1936, from C.H. Udell.

Personal papers of William Pightling Jarrold, with a list of archival items relating to him

Personal papers, comprising correspondence, financial papers and legal documents, as well as one photograph of William. Many of the papers relate to William's role as a landlord of residential property, but there are also family letters, including a few to his cousin Mrs Arnold, some relating to disputes with his brothers, and departure from the family partnership. There is also a mourning card for William, newspaper clippings covering his funeral, a copy of his marriage certificate, and extracts from parish registers relating to his wife's family.
A few items are dated after William's death and relate to his widow, Emma. Also in the bundle is a seven-page manuscript list of archival items relating to William Pightling Jarrold, probably written by Peter Salt in the late twentieth century. Found amongst these items was an undated letter from Hannah Elizabeth Jarrold to an aquaintance.

Assorted family photographs

Six unlabelled photographs of unidentified people, presumably family members, found together. Notes found with the photographs suggest that two of them could be of two of Samuel John James Jarrold's children, one could be of Thomas Herbert Curteis Jarrold, and one may be a member of the Cordy family. Elizabeth Louisa Jarrold's daughter Ella married a Mr Cordy and they had one child, William Jarrold Cordy. Found with these were two photographs of Wretham Hall, Norfolk, seat of Wyrley Birch, labelled as having been taken in 1866 and sent to Mrs Fisher, presumably Elizabeth Louisa Jarrold's mother, Elizabeth Fisher, by a Miss Birch. A third photograph is labelled as being of Wyrley Birch himself, taken in 1863.
