Usually running Easter to Easter, were returned at Archdeacon's Visitations or at Bishop's Visitations when the latter were held, which was normally every seventh year. They were originally filed by the year, but the Archdeacon's Transcripts have been re-sorted by Deanery and by parish within the Deanery. The Archdeacon's transcripts from Norwich City parishes only have been re-sorted into years, however. These yearly files appear to be represented:

It should be emphasised that all transcripts do not survive for all parishes for these years; and that some transcripts were returned to the Bishop in normal years and some to the Archdeacon in Bishop's years. From 1813 onwards, all transcripts were returned to the Bishop.

Contemporary indexes were filed with the inventories up to 1800. The file dates are those of exhibition before the Archdeacon, not making, of the inventories they contain.

From 1823 affidavits (also called allegations) only. Filed according to the date at which they were returned to the Archdeacon, not the date issued. Affidavits continued to be returned in this Archdeaconry until 1915, the last commissary dying in 1922. The bundles mostly represent broken files or parts of files. New style dates used in catalogue.

The Archdeacon acted as collecting agent for procurations, peter's pence and synodals, for the parishes within the Archdeaconry of Norwich.

Presumably acquired either in the course of archdeaconry business or by the archdeaconry registrar in his private practice as an ecclesiastical lawyer.

Accounts, with lists, of wills proved and administrations and marriage licences granted. Marriage licences only are accounted for after 1857.
