  • PC 248
  • Fonds
  • 1895-1935

Minutes of the Parish Council and Parochial Committee along with allotment plans and accounts.

It was absorbed into King's Lynn Borough Council in 1935. The records were held by the Town Clerk of Lynn for reference.

Gaywood Parish Council; 1894-1935; local government; Gaywood, Norfolk

Allotment plans

Plans of the allotments show where each plot was located. Plans for allotments opposite Fairstead (1895), Bawsey Road (1920) and west of Gaywood Hall Estate (1936).

The Gaywood Hall Estate plan is probably a stray plan. It is stamped by the Borough Town Planning Office and Board of Education so likely refers more to the plot showing the proposed school site, that would become Gaywood Park secondary school, rather than the allotments.

Individual items of correspondence and other papers. Includes; Deed of agreement for extending the telegraph to Gaywood (1896), blank nomination paper for election of parish councillors (1910), correspondence with Rural District Council regarding sewer extention (1927-1928), two policies for the Local Government Guarantee Society (1929), letter and form from East Anglian Electric supply Company (1933)

Gaywood Parochial Committee minutes

Minutes of the Gaywood Parochial Committee. Transferred from Freebridge Lynn Rural District Council to King's Lynn Borough Council when the parish of Gaywood was transferred into the Borough.

Waterworks correspondence

Correspondence to and from the Parish regarding the extension of the water supply and sewege pipes to houses in Gaywood. Some correspondence relates to the state of drains and cess pools overflowing or not being cleared by the scavengers. A police report about an accident involving a scavengers cart. Tenders for work and posters advertising roles as scavengers and superintendent of sewers with applications. Water meter readings. Also includes plans for a new estate the builders was asking to be connected.
