Administrative history

During the Second World War, Hethel Camp was a USAAF camp. In the late 1940s, Forehoe and Henstead Rural District Council converted most of the wartime huts into temporary residential accommodation. The camp continued to exist until the late 1950s, when people were re-housed into permanent accommodation.

Archival history

Belonged to Mrs Coates, the mother of the depositor. Mrs Coates was a member of the Coronation Festivities Committee.
