Administrative history

Local weights and measures were verified, according to various acts of parliament, by the Comptroller General of the Exchequer and (from 1864) by the Deputy Warden of the Standards at the Board of Trade. In 1971 local inspectors of weights and measures were invited to apply for custody of obsolete indentures of verification of weights and measures and those for Norwich were transferred to the record office in March 1974.
