System of arrangement

These records were collected from the estates and facilities Department of the Norfolk Mental Health NHS Trust after they had been transferred there following the closure of St Andrew's Hospital. However those plans which were drawn up by St Andrew's for St Andrew's have been listed as part of the St Andrew's archive and as part of the records of the Trust.

There was no original order apparent in the records on deposit. For this reason all groupings of documents are artificial. Documents are grouped together if it is obvious that they relate to the same job and not necessarily because they relate to the same area of the hospital. Where there is doubt if drawings relate to the same job then they have been listed as separate units. The drawings have then been arranged chronologically. Maps and plans of the estate as a whole have been listed together with the detailed architect plans as they would have been accumulated and created in the same manner.
