The Prior of Westacre is named as lord of Westacre in the Nomina Villarum of 1316.\r\nMaud, late wife of Robert Banyard, died in possession of a moiety of the manor, 1349-50; heir 'not known' [IPM 9/136]. Sir John Willoughby died in possession 2 July 1348, heir his son John [IPM 9/201].\r\nOwned by Westacre Priory [Swales]\r\nSir Edward Barkham lived in the 'Manor House' known as High House in the early 17th century, later replaced by a house of the same name built by Edward Spilman. Barkham and Spilman were lords of the manor of Westacre, sometimes therefore known as High House 'manor'.\r\nAnthony Hammond, Esq., is given as lord of the manor in White's Trade Directory (1845).\r\nAnthony Hamond, Esq., DL, JP, is given as lord of the manor in White's Trade Directory, 1883.
