Biographical history

Henry Harrod was an antiquary, born at Aylsham in 1817 and educated at Norwich, where he later worked as an attorney. He acted as secretary to the Norfolk and Norwich Archæological Society for 12 years and in 1854 was elected a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. He became very skilled at reading old documents and was employed to catalogue the archives of King's Lynn, Great Yarmouth and the Le Strange estate at Hunstanton.
