Administrative history

This was the chief manor of Feltwell. Pleasance Clough is named as lady of the manor in the Inclosure Act of 1813 [NRO, C/Sca 2/115] and White's Trade Directory (1845). White states that the manor was originally held by the Bishop of Ely. Mrs Newcome is given as lady of the manor in White's Trade Directory (1883). \r\nFor the history of the manor to the early eighteenth century, see F.
