Granted by John le Dunham to John le Bretun 1288-90 [Rye, Calendar of Norfolk Feet of Fines]. \r\nRichard de Ryvers is named as lord in the Nomina Villarum of 1316.\r\nSir Robert Corbet died in possession, 1404; heir his son Guy [IPM 18/1026]\r\nHeld by the Rogers family of Norwich from before 1715 until 1782, when it was sold by Thomas Rogers to Edward Parry. Parry sold it in 1795 to Robert Denn of High Ongar, Essex: he is lord at the time of the Inclosure Award in 1796 [C/Sce 1/8A]. Denn sold it to St George Knudson, then of Little Dunham, (who, Carthew says, 'was a West Indian (a mulatto)'). By 1817 it was owned by Charles Mansfield Clarke, surgeon (created Baronet in 1831): he sold it to Robert Copeman in 1845 and in 1879 it was held by his son George Copeman. [source: Carthew's History of Launditch (1879)]\r\nGeorge Copeman, Esq., is given as lord of the manor in White's Trade Directory, 1883.\r\nBy 7 May 1906, Revd Hugh James Hare, Revd Robert Copeman and Alfred George Copeman were lords (MC 2418/1/5).\r\nLast transaction dated: 1880; lord of the manor: ?; Steward: ?
