Bassett was made a partner in Francis Hornor & Son c Jun 1910. Served with 2nd Bat. Royal Norfolk Regiment in WW1, Mesopatamia. Lieutenant-Colonel, awarded DSO for conspicuous gallantry, Home Guard, WWII. OBE in 1943 for his Home Guard activities. Justice of the Peace

Includes copy of the agreement between Francis Hornor & Son and the Governors of Queen Anne's Bounty to collect corn rents in lieu of tithes, and a later letter to Bassett from the Tithe Redemption Commission concerning arrears on the collection and moves to transfer some districts to headquarters to reduce the workload on the Hornor staff.
