Archival history
Its records, save the Gaol Committee minutes, 1836-1875, which remain in corporate custody, apparently passed to the Library about 1885 when it acquired the Tolhouse, which had formed the nucleus of the gaol buildings, for museum purposes. Y/L 2/1-67 transferred to Great Yarmouth Museums on 15 August 1974. Transferred back to the Norfolk Record Office, 13 July 2005, Y/L 2/7, Y/L 2/15, Y/L 2/20 and Y/L 2/21 had been thought to be missing but discovered at Great Yarmouth Museum offices in August 2008 and brought to Norfolk Record Office with ACC 2008/175.
