Robert de Vallibus or Vaux endowed Pentney priory with his manor of Pentney. At the Dissolution the manor was granted to Sir Thomas Mildmay.\r\nLord Richardson was named as lord in 1655 [NRO, MC 2998/8].\r\nGeorge Reade, esq., and Revd John Lloyd, clerk, given as lords on 4 November 1741 [NRO, MC 2998/8].\r\nJohn Lloyd was lord at the time of Inclosure in 1808, and was lord in 1821.\r\nRevd Dr Thackeray, of Cambridge, is given as lord of the manor in White's Trade Directory (1845).\r\nCaptain F.R. Thackeray is given as lord of the manor in White's Trade Directory, 1883.\r\nLast transaction dated: 1904; lord of the manor: Frederick Rennell Thackeray; Steward: John Houchen [TNA, HMC 5/6].
