Born at Depden, Suffolk. Son of Samuel Sparrow. Educated at Queen's College, Cambridge. Became a Fellow of this college. Elected one of the preachers at St Edmunds Bury. Archdeacon of Sudbury on 7 August 1660. Prebend at Ely 7 May 1661. Master at Queen's College, Cambridge in 1662, and vice-chancellor of the college in 1664. Promoted to the see of Exeter, and consecrated on 3 November 1667. Transferred from Exeter. Elected 28 August 1676, confirmed 18 September 1676. Buried in the chapel of the bishop's palace, Norwich. Died 18 May 1685. Married with 5 or 6 children.
Wrote: 'Rationale on the Book of Common Prayer' (1657), 'Articles, Injunctions, Canons, Orders, Ordinances ...' (1661).
