Biographical history

Andrew Burley took over the running of the Blue Lion public house at 68/69 Norfolk Street, from Robert Vincent in 1864. In addition to this Burley operated a carman's business and also advertised as a hay and straw dealer. As a carman he carried agricultural produce, coal, sand and gravel and also moved furniture for local clients. Burley continued as a carman at the Blue Lion until the mid 1880s.
